St Mary’s Treatment Centre Portsmouth – Service Provision Reminder

This is a reminder of the services commissioned from St Mary’s Treatment Centre by Portsmouth Cluster CCGs for Optometry.

1.1. Scope

1.1.1. The service will operate as  a community based service offering the following provision:

1.1.2. Clinical triage of ophthalmology GP and GOS18 referrals:

  • It is expected that the service will receive all ophthalmology and GOS18 referrals from GPs and clinically triage these referrals to ensure that they are appropriate for the service
  • The service will also receive GOS18 referrals from optometrists

 1.1.3. Glaucoma:

  • Screening for suspected glaucoma or ocular hypertension per agreed criteria
  • Follow up of stable primary open angle glaucoma as per the agreed pathway provided to the service by the CCGs
  • Medical management of primary open angle glaucoma as per the agreed pathway

 1.1.4. Cataract:

  • Referral refinement, assessment for surgery and, where the patient is seen in this service, post-surgical follow up as per agreed protocols

1.1.5. Direct Listing:

  • Whilst offering choice of provider, where able to, the service will directly list patients for procedures

1.1.6. Wet AMD:

  • The assessment and treatment of stable wet AMD with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) drugs.  There may also be the similar possibility for migrating stable patients with other indications for anti-VEGF drugs including diabetic macular oedema and retinal vein occlusion in the future
