Optometrist Vacancies – Southampton Eye Unit, University Hospital Southampton NHS FT

The Optometry department would like to recruit 2 enthusiastic and motivated Optometrists to join our expanding service.  The posts will involve working within the glaucoma service and eye casualty, under Ophthalmologist supervision, as well as a variety of core optometric roles.  These could include providing paediatric and adult refractions, post-op cataract and corneal cross linking clinics.  Also, low vision assessments and medical contact lens fitting.  Due to the expanding services we are looking at new ways to see patients and run clinics so there will be some work in peripheral clinic settings as well as virtual clinics and occasional Saturday clinics.  This is a fantastic opportunity to work within this regional center of excellence and join an expanding team of 23 Ophthalmologists and 7 Optometrists, Specialist Nurse Practitioners, Orthoptists and support staff.  The posts are permanent, 5 days (37.5 hrs) per week and will include occasional Saturdays.  Previous experience would be beneficial, but full training will be provided.  The successful candidates will be qualified, GOC registered, with a good work ethic and willing to go the extra mile to provide the best service for the patients.
